How to start/stop recordings on the Spiideo Web app, iOS app or schedule them in advance using the Calendar tool

Spiideo Perform has 3 platforms in which you can start and stop recordings, both manually and at predetermined times. Read on to find your options and a solution that works best for you.

1. Before you get Started

Before you can start a recording, make sure you read the linked section in the article on Scene Control.

This will explain how to give recording access to yourself and others which you will need before you can start or schedule recordings on a scene in Spiideo Perform.

2. Starting a New Recording on Web

Once you have access, you will see the 'Start a new recording' button when you click on the Recordings tab.

Let's go through the required steps to start a recording:

Step 1.

Navigate to the recordings tab and click 'Start a new recording'

Step 2.

Enter the following details for your recording:

Sections are as followed:

  1. Enter the recording title

  2. Select a scene (If you don't see the scene you want, you might not have recording access)

  3. Store recording as full or trimmed. Trimmed recordings will be reduced to just their tags in 10 days

  4. Allow other users with access to the recording to create tags

  5. Share to relevant groups

  6. Share to individuals in your account

  7. Order AutoData for this recording (Read more about AutoData here)

Step 3.

Once all relevant information is entered, click 'Start Recording' in the bottom right.

When the recording is started, it will appear in the Recordings list view.

  • Everyone you have shared the recording with via Groups will see the recording live or afterwards.

  • To see the live recording (with approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute delay), you simply press the list item and you will enter the video player mode.

  • It will take a 1-2 minutes before you are able to see the recording live after it is started.

  • Any administrator of the account can stop an on-going recording.

Press to stop the recording when finished


3. Scheduling via the Calendar on Web

The Calendar tool is a great way to automate the starting and stopping of recordings. You can schedule an entire week's worth of practices and games days or weeks in advance!

Via this screen, you can:

  • See your upcoming recordings

  • Edit or cancel upcoming recordings

  • See all past recordings and uploads

This feature is only available on the Spiideo Web app

Let's go through the steps to schedule via the calendar:

Step 1.

Navigate to the recordings tab and then the calendar. Then click 'Schedule a new recording'

Step 2.

Fill in all relevant information. Best practice is to schedule recording to start at least 5 minutes before the event

  1. Enter the recording title

  2. Select a scene (If you don't see the scene you want, you might not have recording access)

  3. Store recording as full or trimmed. Trimmed recordings will be reduced to just their tags in 10 days

  4. Share to relevant groups

Step 3.

Once information is entered, click 'Start recording' in the bottom right. The recording will now be displayed on your calendar as below:

It is best practice to check the connection status of your scene before the scheduled recording starts, in order to ensure your recordings run smoothly. You can do this via the 'Scenes' menu, read more here.

Step 4.

When the recording has started, it will appear in the Recordings list view.

  • Everyone you have shared the recording with via Groups will see the recording live or afterwards.

  • To see the live recording (with approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute delay), you simply press the list item and you will enter the video player mode.

  • It will take a 1-2 minutes before you are able to see the recording live after it is started.

  • Any administrator of the account can stop an on-going recording.


4. Starting a New Recording on iOS App

You can start a recording via the iOS app right from the pitch. Let's get started with the steps to record

Step 1.

Navigate to the recordings tab and then the calendar. Then click 'New +'

Step 2.

Enter the following details for your recording:

The sections are as followed:

  1. Select your scene (If you don't see the scene you want, you might not have recording access)

  2. See a preview of the scene here

  3. Enter recording title

  4. Description of recording (optional)

  5. Share to relevant groups

  6. Share to individuals in your account

  7. Automatically generate a Predefined AutoFollow download

  8. Store recording as full or trimmed. Trimmed recordings will be reduced to just their tags in 10 days

Step 3.

Once relevant information is entered, scroll down and click the red start button

Now your recording is started, you will see it in the Recordings tab list as followed:

This means:

  • Everyone you have shared the recording with via Groups will see the recording live or afterwards.

  • To see the live recording (with approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute delay), you simply press the list item and you will enter the video player mode.

  • It will take a 1-2 minutes before you are able to see the recording live after it is started.

  • Any administrator of the account can stop an on-going recording.
