How to Create Manual Highlight Clips and Reels

Highlights enable you to share specific moments of games broadcast with Spiideo to your audience.

Creating manual highlight clips lets you tag the moments in your Spiideo Play broadcast that matter most to you. The highlights can be created during an ongoing broadcast or after it has finished.

You can use the highlights in a few different ways. In this article, we'll cover how to use your highlights to:

  • Build a highlight reel: collect and edit one or more clips into a reel that you can download and share outside of Spiideo.

  • Analyze your performance: import the broadcast to a Perform account for deeper review. Any highlight clips created during the broadcast will appear as tags in your imported Spiideo Perform recording.

Highlights can also be used to trigger sport-specific lower left graphics and Instant Replay, which you can read more about in the corresponding articles.

Create Highlights During a Broadcast

Before you start creating highlights during a broadcast, we recommend that you set up teams & players.

When the broadcast begins, open CloudStudio and watch along as the game unfolds. When a moment happens worthy of a highlight, you can create your highlight using the tag panel.

The tag panel, which is used for creating the highlight clips, will vary depending on the sport you are broadcasting.

  • Baseball, basketball, floorball, futsal, handball, and soccer all have sport-specific tag panels, which you can learn more about here.

  • All other sports will only have the tag labelled 'Other'.

As soon as you create a highlight, a highlight reel will automatically be created. Any other highlights created during the same broadcast will be added to the same reel.

To create a highlight clip:

  1. Click on the tag or the corresponding shortcut on your keyboard.

  2. Select the team you wish to connect to the tag.*

  3. Select the player you wish to connect to the tag.*

* If applicable

Customize the Highlight Clip Pre- and Post-roll

Depending on the sport you are broadcasting, the default pre- and post-roll your highlights will vary. These can be customized in CloudStudio if you have scheduled a broadcast with Instant Replay enabled.

To adjust the pre- and post-roll:

  1. In the 'Replays' section, click 'Default In/Out Settings for [sport]. On the left, you'll see the tag you're adjusting the pre- and post-roll for, and on the right, you'll be able to adjust the pre- and post-roll.

  2. Click the '+' icon to add seconds to the pre-/post-roll.

  3. Click the '-' icon to remove seconds from the pre-/post-roll.
