What is BenchMode?
BenchMode is a Spiideo Perform add-on that gives you a fast, bench-friendly way to watch, find, organize, and review live game moments so you can make better in-game decisions. It shortens the time between something happening in a game and you being able to review it down to approximately four seconds.
Who Uses BenchMode?
Coaches who need clear video evidence during a game.
Analysts who tag and curate moments for the coaching staff.
Teams that want a cloud-based alternative to local capture.
Staff working on the sideline, in the technical area, in the box or locker room, or remotely.
It is especially useful when a team needs to react quickly to tactical changes, repeated patterns, set pieces, substitutions, or challenge/replay situations.
Where Can It Be Used?
BenchMode runs inside Spiideo Perform and can be accessed through:
The Spiideo iOS App (iPad only).
Desktop or laptop.
Because the workflow is cloud-based, a user can be located anywhere and still receive the four-second latency as long as all requirements are met.
Please note that BenchMode is available on computers and iPads but is not supported on iPhone.

Full BenchMode Experience
The full BenchMode experience includes:
Low-latency live video: approximately four seconds from camera to bench under supported conditions.
Fast, smooth scrubbing: move back through the live timeline to find a moment quickly.
Bench-optimized player: a focused interface designed for use during live competition.
Single- and multi-angle review: inspect a situation from the available camera views.
Live tagging: analysts can mark tactical or game events as they happen.
Tag visibility and filtering: use tags to narrow the moments shown to coaches.
Previous/next tag navigation: move quickly between tagged moments.
Playlist view: organize selected moments for review during the game, at breaks, or at halftime.
Clip delivery to another device: send or surface selected clips directly for staff on the bench.
Shared cloud workflow: clips, tags, and playlists become available to authorized staff without local exports or file transfers.
Quick replay navigation: return to live video or revisit a decisive moment with minimal steps.
Scaled BenchMode for BASIC TEAM and LITE TEAM
The scaled BenchMode gives you access to fewer features.
Included: BenchMode player with timeline view and scrubbing.
Not included: BenchMode tag, tag toggle/filter controls, previous/next tag navigation, and playlist view.
This gives Basic and Lite teams a simple live bench-video experience while reserving the analyst–coach collaboration workflow for the full version.
BenchMode Requirements
Account Requirements:
Your account needs to have purchased and access to the BenchMode add-on.
Hardware Requirements:
Your workstation device requirements can be found here. Regardless of your workstation device, a wired Ethernet connection is recommended.
The workstation device network connection also needs to meet the minimum network speeds:
Download bandwidth per device: 40 Mbit/s
Upload bandwidth per device: 10 Mbit/s
Scene Requirements:
Have a stable network with speeds of at least 15 Mbps per camera.
The scene needs to be enabled for BenchMode.
Using BenchMode
In the Spiideo Web App
When you've ensured that your scene, account, and hardware requirements are met, start your recording. If you need a refresher on how, click here.
Once your recording is live, you'll see the BenchMode button in the bottom right corner of the recordings tile. On wider screens, the full BenchMode button is displayed, while on narrower screens, only the BenchMode icon is shown.

Click the BenchMode button to open BenchMode.
Once you've opened your recording, you'll have a variety of controls that you can use.
In BenchMode, you can:
Enable AutoFollow, select AutoFollow mode, select camera angle, and access settings.
Jump backwards/forwards between tags.
View and control the timeline scrubber.
If the timeline scrubber and time indicator are red, it means you are viewing the live footage.
If the timeline scrubber and time indicator are black, it means you are viewing playback.
View the current time indicator, using either video or world time format.
Video time format will show the hours, minutes, and seconds into the recording.
World time format will show your device's real-world local time.
Return to the live footage after scrubbing backwards.
Create a Bench tag.
View created Bench tags.
Select Your Camera View
If your Spiideo scene includes multiple camera angles, you can use BenchMode from the camera angle of your choice.
To change the camera angle:
Click the camera icon in the bottom right corner of the video player.
Click the camera angle you want to view.
Adjust the Timeline Scrubber
Change the Time Format
Select a time format that suits your needs.
Video time format
World time format
Video time shows recording time, while wall time shows the local time on your device.
To adjust the time format:
Click the settings icon located in the bottom right of the video player.
Select the format you want to use.
Change the Timeline Appearance
If you want to simplify the timeline and make video navigation more immediate, you can change the timeline appearance.
To change the timeline appearance, click on the icon on the left side of the timeline scrubber.
If the time indicator and timeline scrubber are red, it means you are viewing the live footage; if they are black, it means that you've rewound the recording.
Click and drag the timeline scrubber to rewind or forward the recording.
Click 'Live' to jump back to the live footage.
Create a Bench Tag
Regardless of the sport you are recording, the Bench tag pre- and post-rolls are five seconds long, making each tag clip ten seconds long.
To create a Bench tag, click 'Bench tag'.
Once you have created a tag, you can:
Mark it as a favorite
Add notes to it
Edit the tag length
Add it to a presentation
Generate a downloadable clip
Delete it
Mark a Tag as a Favorite and Add a Note
To add a tag as a favorite, click the tag in the timeline, followed by the star icon.
To add a note to a tag, click the tag in the timeline, click the note icon, type your note, and click 'Save'.
All tags made on the recording will be listed via the tags menu icon in the top right corner.
To access the list of tags:
Click the tags menu icon in the top right.
Under 'All tags', you'll see a list of all tags connected to the recording regardless of the source.
Under 'Favorites', you'll see the Bench tags you've marked as favorites.
Under 'Bench tag' you'll see all Bench tags.
Click on a category to see the time the tag was created, the type of tag, as well as the tag note.
Click on a tag to view it in the video player.
Add a Tag Clip to a Presentation
Clips from tags created in BenchMode can easily be added to existing or new presentations.
To add a tag clip to a presentation:
Click the tag.
Click the three-dot menu.
Click 'Add to Presentation' and select whether you want to add it to an existing one or create a new one.
Download a Tag Clip
Download selected clips to save, share, or use outside of Spiideo.
To generate a download of a tag clip:
Click the tag.
Click the three-dot menu.
Click 'Download'.
You'll find all of the downloads under the 'Downloads' tab of the recording. Once each download has finished processing, it is ready to download locally.
To download a clip:
Head to the Spiideo Perform home page.
Click the corresponding recording.
Click 'Downloads'.
Click on a file to download it locally to your device.
Edit a Tag
By default, the tag length is ten seconds with a five-second pre-roll and a five-second post-roll, regardless of the sport you are recording.
Adjusting the duration or position of the tag is done by changing the in and out points.
The in point sets where you want the selected section to start.
The out point sets where you want the selected section to end.
There are four ways to adjust the in and out points:
Click and drag the entire tag timestamp field.
Click and drag them separately.
Mark them using the playhead.
Manually enter their timestamps.
To edit a tag:
Click the tag.
Click the three-dot icon.
Click 'Edit tag length' and adjust the in and out points using one of the methods below:
Click and drag the entire tag timestamp field left or right.
Click and drag the in and out points left or right.
Click and drag the black playhead to a timestamp of your choice and click 'Mark in' to mark the in point, and 'Mark out' to mark the out point.
Manually enter the in point timestamp on the left side, and the out point on the right side.
Click 'Save'.
Delete a Tag
If you've created a tag by accident or simply don't need it anymore, you can delete it in three clicks.
To delete a tag:
Click the tag.
Click the three-dot icon.
Click 'Delete'.
Jump Between Tags
Quickly navigate between your BenchMode tags using the left and right arrows located just above the timeline scrubber on the left-hand side.
Viewing Your Tags After the Recording
All tags can be viewed in the video player both during the recording and after it has ended.
All tags created in BenchMode will be collected under 'Bench tag'.
A note indicator appears above the tag when the tag contains a note.
A tag marked as a favorite is displayed as a slightly larger dot with a white star in the center.
On the Web (iPad)
All BenchMode features are available in the Spiideo web app for iPad.
In the Spiideo iOS App (iPad only)
All BenchMode features are available in the Spiideo iOS app except notes.
Please note that BenchMode in the Spiideo iOS app is only available for iPad and not iPhone.
To open BenchMode on an iPad, click 'Bench mode' on the corresponding recording.
