Production Recipes

Develop an efficient broadcast scheduling workflow and enhance your storyboard and graphic package customization.

Updated today

A Production Recipe is a preset configuration that defines the visual and operational elements of a broadcast including production level, storyboard, graphic package, and overlays.

What are Production levels?

Production Levels define the complexity and quality of a broadcast setup, ranging from basic to advanced options. Higher levels include more graphic elements, overlays, and camera angles.

What is a storyboard?

Storyboards define the visual flow and structure of a broadcast, determining when and how graphics, overlays, and other visual elements appear on screen.

What is a graphic package?

Graphic packages consist of visual overlays and on-screen graphics that can be added to video recordings or live streams.

Create a Recipe

⚠️ Please note that Production Recipes are available to Spiideo Play PRO and Play PRO Media customers only. If you want to upgrade your account do not hesitate to reach out to your customer success manager.

If your account is a Play PRO or Play PRO Media account you can head over to Spiideo Play to start creating your recipe.

Once logged into Spiideo Play, locate and click 'Recipes' located on the left side menu.

Start creating your recipe by clicking '+ New', choose a name for your recipe and click 'OK' to proceed.

Next, select the correct sport. The recipe must match the sport assigned to the broadcast. For example, if you schedule a broadcast on a basketball scene but the recipe is set for football, it won’t appear as an available option.

Click on 'Select sport', scroll up/down to view the list of available sports and click on the sport you want to use for the recipe.

Located just below the sport you'll find the production level. The higher the level, the more graphical elements, overlays, and camera angles are available.

Standard production is available for all account levels, while Advanced and Advanced Pro productions are only accessible to users who have purchased the corresponding production hours.

To choose your production level click on on 'Production Level', choose the Production Level you want to use and click 'Confirm' once happy with your selection.

Choosing a Storyboard

Once you have chosen your production level, you need to choose your storyboard and upload any of your desired assets. Storyboards define the visual flow and structure of a broadcast, determining when and how graphics, overlays, and other visual elements appear on screen.

To ensure that your broadcast has the desired visual elements it is important to ensure that the correct storyboard is chosen.

Understanding the Storyboard Timeline

To help visualize your production, you'll see a set of timeline overviews in the bottom left corner once you've chosen your storyboard. These timelines illustrate which visual elements appear, when they appear, and how long they remain on screen during different phases of the broadcast.

There are four distinct phases:

  • Pre-Game: The period between the start of the broadcast and the beginning of the match.

  • Active Play: Covers gameplay periods such as halves, quarters and periods.

  • Half Time: Represents the intermission between gameplay periods.

  • Post-Game: The time following the end of the match.

Each timeline is divided into slots that indicate the status of visual elements:

  • 🔵 Empty Slots – Available for you to assign overlays or media.

  • 🟢 Assigned Slots – Already contain a visual element.

  • Locked Slots – Cannot be edited or modified.

Use these timelines to plan your overlays and ensure they appear at your desired timestamps.

By hovering over each slot you can easily get an overview of what overlay that is shown, the position in the broadcast, the start time and the duration.

Understanding the Overlay Slot Details:

In the example above, we hover over a Pre-Game slot. The following information is displayed:

  • Broadcast Preview: A visual preview of the broadcast. Once overlays are added, their position will be reflected here.

  • Overlay Type: In this case, the overlay is an image (e.g. sponsor graphics).

  • Start Time: Indicates when the overlay will appear in the broadcast timeline.

  • Duration: Specifies how long the overlay will remain on screen.

  • Available Media: Shows which assets can be assigned to this slot (highlighted in blue).

We also hover over a Half Time slot, where the following details appear:

  • Overlay Type: In this case, the content is an intermission video.

  • Start Time: Indicates when the video will begin playing during the halftime break.

  • Duration: Specifies how long the video will play.

  • Available Media: Displays the type of media that can be added to this slot (highlighted in blue).
