If you wish to use your Portable SmartCam with an internal SIM card, you will need an appropriate data plan from a telecommunications provider in your country or region. Below is a list of recommendations by region. Please note, this is not an exhaustive list of options but rather feedback and experience of other customers.
Initial Steps and Important Notes
Speaking to your Data Provider
When selecting your data plan, there will be a number of options available. We suggest using the following as a script when speaking to your data provider:
I will need:
A 4G compatible data-only plan
With unlimited data
That does not cap speed after reaching a data limit
For a Cradlepoint router
If these points are covered when purchasing, you should have success in using your Portable SmartCam via SIM.
Inserting the SIM into your Router
Our Router supports a 2FF size SIM card (pictured below). If your SIM card is not a 2FF size, any mobile store can often provide an adaptor to compensate.
To insert the SIM, you will need a screwdriver (preferably magnetic) to remove the cover of the SIM card slots and to secure the cover once the SIM is inserted. This screwdriver now is supplied with the Portable SmartCam 3
Portable SmartCam 3:
Only one slot available. Orientate the SIM with the notched corner facing down and to the right of the 'Main' antenna port. You now must reattach the SIM door and secure the screws before use
Portable SmartCam Mk II:
Insert in either SIM port. Orientate the SIM with the notched corner facing down and to the right of the 'Main' antenna port. You now must reattach the SIM door and secure the screws before use
Please remember: If your SIM is not a 2FF size, you will need to insert the card into a 2FF SIM card adapter first, before inserting it into the router.
