Monitoring your Broadcast

How to monitor the health of your broadcast and approach problems that may occur

Updated over 2 years ago

Our broadcast monitoring allows you to edit an upcoming or ongoing broadcast, check the health of an ongoing broadcast and end an ongoing broadcast.

Contents

1. Before your Broadcast Begins

Through the recordings tab, you can navigate to your scheduled or ongoing broadcast and enter the broadcast monitoring screen.

From here, you can:

  • See the time until your broadcast begins

  • Change some details of the broadcast with the 'Edit' button (before the start time of the broadcast)

  • Delete the broadcast before it starts

2. During your Spiideo Play FULL Broadcast

Once your broadcast begins, your page will adjust to show the current status of your broadcast.

You can see that your broadcast is live and its current duration via the ticker in the top left. From here you can:

  • Extend the length of your broadcast if there are delays to the game, via the edit menu

  • Stop the broadcast manually

  • Delete the broadcast

  • Navigate to CloudStudio or provide a link to a CloudStudio Operator. More about CloudStudio here

  • Navigate to the game page or copy the link. This is used to share the game with viewers

Newly added is the ability to see the health of your stream as well as a live view.

The status will tell you whether:

  • Everything is working as intended - Green

  • The broadcast is starting up - Yellow

  • There is a problem with the broadcast - Red

This monitor section allows you to see:

  • Check Camera Status: Whether your cameras are online

  • Camera Upload: Check speeds are sufficient. 15mbps per camera is needed

  • Spiideo Cloud Production: Ensure Spiideo is producing the video correctly

  • Watch a live feed of the broadcast with audio: This is what the viewer sees

TIP: If you notice a problem with camera status or camera upload, it is a good first step to have your team check the power and network to the cameras at the scene. If this looks to be in order, please reach out to Spiideo Support via the chat in the bottom right.

3. During your RTMP Broadcast via Spiideo Play

Once your RTMP broadcast begins, you can monitor the health of the livestream through your broadcast in the recordings tab.

  • RTMP Connection: The health of the broadcast on the external site

Via the destination panel, you can edit the Stream URL and Stream Key for your RTMP stream.

How to Restart your RTMP Broadcast

If you see the feed stall on the external site, you can restart the broadcast using the 'restart' button in this panel. This will:

  • Resend the signal of the broadcast to the external site

  • Continue from the current Live moment

  • Take a short time to show on the external site

If you are unable to solve the problems that you're experiencing, please reach out to our Support team via the chat widget in the bottom right corner of your Spiideo Play page.
