Controlling the Phase
A Phase is any period of a game. For example:
A half in football
A quarter in basketball
A period in ice hockey
The phase controls dictate where in the match we are; first half, third quarter, etc. Adjusting the phase tells the storyboard which actions to take. A storyboard is a premade set of actions (display graphics, start the clock, etc.) designated to the match
Choose the Phase Length
Before starting the phase you can set the length of the phase. We automatically set this period length depending on the sport chosen for the broadcast
Use the up and down arrows to set the period length. You can make this sport specific, for example:
45 minutes for football
12 minutes for basketball
20 minutes for ice hockey
Start the Phase
It is important to start the phase:
Before the start of the match
Before the start of each half, quarter, period
Starting the period triggers the scorebug to display and other storyboard actions to start/stop.
If you adjust the phase number (P1, P2, etc.) BEFORE the broadcast, this will affect the storyboard and subsequent graphics shown. Be careful when doing so
Stop the Phase and End the Game
It is important to stop the phase:
At the end of the half, quarter, period
At the end of the match
This will tell the storyboard that the phase has stopped and that we are in between phases. In most cases, this will display a special 'Intermission' graphic
Make sure you end the game when it is over. This will trigger any end game graphics to appear
Controlling the Time
You time controls can be used as followed:
You can set the time to count up or count down.
Start the time at the beginning of the match after starting the phase
Starting subsequent phases will trigger the time to start automatically
Click the up/down arrows to manually adjust the time if needed
