Replay Device Hardware and Software Requirements

Replay requires a compatible setup to ensure the best performance. Use the guide below when choosing or configuring your device.

Replay Workstation

User Device Requirements

These hardware options offer the best performance and experience with Replay. Requirements vary depending on your specific Replay workflow:

  • Macs: Recommended for all workflows. They are the preferred choice for complex setups or when a dedicated technician or operator is managing the system.

  • iPads: Recommended for simple workflows, typically used by an in-game referee.

Hardware requirements are categorized based on device capability:

  • New Devices: Suitable for workflows requiring standard latency.

  • Legacy Devices: These are unoptimized for the current version of Replay and should only be used if already owned.


New Device Specifications

For users purchasing new hardware for standard latency workflows.

Macs

  • Models: MacBook Pro or Mac mini.

  • Processor: Apple Silicon M4 / M5 (10-core CPU, 10-core GPU) or better.

  • Memory: 16 GB unified memory or more.

iPad

  • Model: iPad Pro.

  • Processor: Apple Silicon M5.

  • Display: 13-inch screen size.

  • Accessories: A connection dock (for power and network).


Legacy Device Specifications

These requirements apply only to devices already owned. If you are purchasing a new device, navigate to the 'New Devices' section.

Macs

  • Models: MacBook Pro or Mac mini.

  • Processor: Apple Silicon M2 Pro, M3 Pro, or M4 chip (or better).

  • Memory: 16 GB unified memory or more.

iPad

  • Model: iPad Pro.

  • Processor: Apple Silicon M4.

  • Display: 13-inch screen size.

  • Accessories: A connection dock (for power and network).


Network Requirements

Regardless of your workstation device, a wired Ethernet connection is required.

  • If you are using a MacBook Pro, you need a USB-C to Ethernet adapter.

  • If you are using an iPad Pro, you need a USB-C connection dock.

The connection also needs to meet the minimum network speeds:

  • Download bandwidth per device: 40 Mbit/s

  • Upload bandwidth per device: 10 Mbit/s


Software Requirements

  • The latest version of Google Chrome

  • The latest version of your device's operating system.

Important: None of the listed accessories are weatherproof. If your setup is placed outdoors, make sure all accessories and devices are properly protected from the elements.

    • Size: Up to 27 inches (16:9 aspect ratio) (recommended max size for monitor hood compatibility).

    • Ports: HDMI and USB-C inputs.

    • Note: If you use a Mac mini setup with two screens connected, one needs to be over USB-C and the other over HDMI, as the Mac mini only has one HDMI output.

  • Bluetooth mouse: MX Master 4 for Mac.

  • Bluetooth keyboard: MX Keys Mini.

Adapters & Docks

Sunshot USB-C to Ethernet Adapter

Recommended manufacturer: Sunshot USB-C to Ethernet Adapter

  • Function:

    • Converts USB-C to Ethernet and power delivery via USB-C.

    • Pass-Through Charging: Keeps your device powered by connecting an external USB-C charger directly to the adapter. Requires a separate USB-C charger to be connected.

  • Caution: When connected to an iPad Pro, do not allow heavy Ethernet and power cables to hang unsupported. Cable weight puts stress on the iPad Pro’s USB-C port, which can cause permanent damage.

  • Design Note: This model features a longer integrated USB-C cable than the Belkin USB-C to Ethernet + Charge Adapter 100W, providing additional slack to help relieve tension on the iPad Pro's port.

Belkin USB-C to Ethernet + Charge Adapter 100W

  • Function:

    • Converts USB-C to Ethernet and power delivery via USB-C.

    • Pass-Through Charging: Keeps your device powered by connecting an external USB-C charger directly to the adapter. Requires a separate USB-C charger to be connected.

  • Note: This adapter will be connected to a USB-C port on the iPad Pro; do not let the connected Ethernet and USB-C charging cable hang freely and put strain on the iPad Pro USB-C contact, as this can cause damage.

Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

Function: Converts USB-C to Ethernet.

Belkin Connect USB-C 6-in-1 Core GaN Dock 130W (INC018)

Function:

  • Expands a single USB-C port into Ethernet, power delivery, and USB connections.

    • Power Supply: Connects directly to wall power with an integrated charger, so no separate USB-C charger is required.

    • Included Cable: Includes a 0.5 m USB-C host cable.

    • Cable Extension: If the included cable is too short, a longer replacement can be purchased separately (e.g., Scosche StrikeLine 2 m USB-C to USB-C Cable).


Charger

Recommended manufacturer:

  • iPad Pro: Use the included (if included), or purchase one from Apple.

  • MacBook Pro: Use the included charger.


Case & Stand

Function: Protects the iPad Pro and has build in stand.

Laptop Tripod:

Portable option to a desk when no desk is available on site. Found on e.g Amazon.

Function: Portable desk for iPad to stand on. If you do not have a suitable desk on site, this could be an option.


Headsets

Logitech Zone Vibe 100

Recommended manufacturer: Logitech ZONE VIBE 100

  • Function: Bluetooth stereo headset with noise reduction microphone.

    • Basic noise reduction mic: Yes, it will reduce background noise picked up by the mic.

    • Active noise canceling speakers: No, but the over-ear design will help block out some noise similar to hearing protection.

  • Setup tips:

    • Only connect it to one device.

    • Install and open the 'Logi Tune' app on the device. Available for both iPad and Mac.

    • Select sleep settings to 'Never'.

Jabra Evolve2 50: stereo or mono version.

Recommended manufacturer: Jabra Evolve2 50

  • Function: Wired USB headset, stereo or mono version. ANC and noise reduction mic.

    • Basic noise reduction mic: Yes, it will reduce background noise picked up by the mic.

    • Active noise canceling speaker(s): Yes.

  • Stereo or mono headset:

    • A mono headset can be an option if the on-the-field referee uses an earpiece for local radio communication on one ear.

    • If not, use stereo for superior sound.

  • Setup tips:

    • Install 'Jabra Direct' on a Mac (not available for iPad) and connect the headset to the same device. This will only be used to ensure that the headset has the latest firmware for optimal functionality.

  • Version: When ordering, make sure you order the version with:

    • Connectivity: USB C or USB A

    • Optimized for: Unified Communication


Mouse and Keyboard

MX Master 4 for Mac

Function: Bluetooth mouse.

MX Keys Mini

Recommended manufacturer: MX Keys Mini

Function: Bluetooth keyboard.


Program Feed Converter & Monitor

Recommended converter manufacturer: Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI 3G wPSU

Recommended monitor: Office monitor up to 27 inches (16:9) (Monitor hood compatibility reasons) with HDMI input. Not curved if you want to use a monitor hood/sun shade.

  • Function: Converts an incoming SDI program feed to HDMI to output the video signal to a standard monitor.

  • Recommended monitor: Office monitor up to 27 inches (16:9) (Monitor hood compatibility reasons) with HDMI input. Not curved if you want to use a monitor hood/sun shade.

  • Setup:

    • Connect your SDI cable to the converter.

    • Connect the converter to a monitor using HDMI.
