Time Verified in Spiideo

Learn how verifying your sources' time signature enables seamless multi-angle synchronization.

Time Verified is a step where you confirm that your source's digital timestamp matches real-world time.

Spiideo cameras are time-aligned and verified by default. However, when you use external sources, the incoming video stream might have minor time offsets that need manual adjustments to be aligned with the other sources.

Once you’ve verified the external sources, your team can have complete peace of mind knowing that the Spiideo system will produce aligned video from all sources on the scene.

Please note: In this article, we'll use Spiideo Replay as an example, but the steps are the same regardless of whether you are using Spiideo Replay, Spiideo Play, or Spiideo Perform.

To Verify Your Source/s

Source verification is managed from the scene overview. Depending on the Spiideo platform you are using, navigate to your scene using the steps below:

  • Spiideo Replay & Spiideo Perform: Select Scenes from the left-hand menu, then click the scene you want to verify.

  • Spiideo Play: Navigate to CloudControl and click the scene you want to verify.

From the scene overview, click 'Camera Time Offset'.

Select a Reference

Next up is choosing your verified reference. The verified reference source is the "source of truth" that sets the exact time for all your other video angles.

  • If there is an available Spiideo camera on the scene, it will automatically be selected as the verified reference.

  • If there isn't an available Spiideo camera, always choose your most stable main video source as the reference point. If you use a temporary or unstable feed and it changes mid-game, your previous time verifications will break, and you'll have to re-verify your cameras.

Please note that external streams can't be started directly within Spiideo, and before you begin verifying your footage, make sure to start streaming from all external sources.

Click the 'Select a reference camera' drop-down menu and select your reference.

Review the Footage

Once your reference has been selected, the footage from your external sources will start loading. You'll be able to view the reference footage on the left side under 'Verified reference' and other sources on the right side under 'Camera to adjust'.

In the example below, we can see that the source on the right side is not in sync with the reference.

Adjust the Offset

If an image isn't in sync with the reference, you'll need to adjust the offset to align the two feeds. The standard offset range is ± 1 second.

  • If the source feed in the video player on the right is behind, it needs to be brought forward.

  • If the source feed in the video player on the right is playing too far ahead, it needs to be delayed.

To align the right-hand feed with the reference source, adjust the offset using one of three methods:

  1. The Slider: Quickly shift the timeline earlier (left) or later (right).

  2. The - / + Buttons: Click to nudge the video backward or forward.

  3. Manual Number Entry: Type the exact timing discrepancy directly into the box if you already know the correct value.

If required, you can adjust the offset range to more than 1 second, but please keep in mind that this may cause delivery delays.

To extend the offset range, click 'Extend' located on the left of the '-' icon.

Verify the Offset

When your angles are in sync, it's time to mark the offset as verified.

Please note that your verification is valid for 24 hours. After that window closes, you will need to verify your sources again.

Click 'Verify Offset' in the bottom right corner.

Once a source is verified, you'll see a green verified badge next to the source name as well as the text 'verified' in the bottom right of the image.

If you've accidentally verified a source, you can unverify it by clicking the 'verified' button again.

Repeat the above process for all sources.

Click on the drop-down menu under 'Camera to adjust' and select the next source to verify.

Verification Summary

To view a summary of your setup, click the verification summary button (the checklist icon with the number badge in the top right corner)

In the camera verification summary, you can:

  1. View the verified source name.

  2. See if a verified source has an ongoing recording.

  3. View a verified source's verification status.

  4. View a verified source’s current offset.

  5. View a non-verified source's name.

  6. See if a non-verified source has an ongoing recording.

  7. View a source's verification status. If it has been verified before, you will also see the expiration date of its most recent verification.

  8. View a non-verified source’s current offset.

  9. Remove the verification for all sources at once.

  10. Verify all the sources at once.

Clearing the verification status of all sources will automatically place all sources under 'Non-verified cameras'.

Verifying all the sources at once will automatically place all sources under 'Verified Cameras'.

Save Your Adjustments

In order for any changes you've made to apply, you'll need to save the offset.

Click 'Save' in the top right corner to open the save confirmation window.

In the save confirmation window, you'll get a final chance to make sure everything looks good to go.

Verify that everything looks as expected and save by clicking 'Save & Apply'.
