Speed Test your Spiideo Cameras

Learn how to test the network speed/s of your Spiideo camera/s.

Updated today

Running a speed test helps ensure that the network connection is strong enough to support the selected recording and streaming settings. Higher image quality provides better video clarity but also requires more available network bandwidth.

Speed Test Results Explained

Once a speed test is completed, you'll see the average bandwidth per camera on the scene. For example, if you have a scene with an S-line Wide and the test result is 12 Mbps, the total average bandwidth for the scene will be approximately 24 Mbps.

The system also provides a rating for the test result. These ratings are based on the image quality setting configured for the scene.

  • Good: The network speed is sufficient for streaming or live playback.

  • Sub-optimal: The connection may cause delays or buffering.

  • Bad: The connection is not strong enough for reliable performance.

A scene can be configured with three different image quality levels. Each level requires a different amount of upload bandwidth per camera.

  • High image quality requires approximately 12–15 Mbps per camera.

  • Medium image quality requires approximately 8–10 Mbps per camera.

  • Low image quality requires approximately 4–6 Mbps per camera.

Improving the Speed Test Results

If the speed test results are sub-optimal or bad, there are several ways to improve performance:

  • Consult the on-site IT team to check whether improvements can be made to the local network or infrastructure.

  • Contact your network provider to see if your network subscription can be upgraded.

  • Reach out to the Spiideo support team, who can lower the image quality setting for the scene.
