Starting Camera Heaters in Spiideo

The camera heaters are a great tool for keeping your camera images clear during different weather conditions.

Updated this week

What are Heaters?

Heaters in your cameras can help to reduce the effect of water and snow on your camera lens. They can be used to remove fog, frost, small amounts of water, snow as well as condensation from the camera. Heaters are especially useful for outdoor installations where temperature and humidity can fluctuate significantly.

Heaters can be used both proactively and reactively. For example, if you know bad weather is on the way, you can turn on the heater in advance to prevent issues like snow sticking to the camera. Alternatively, if the lens has already become obstructed by snow or moisture, you can enable the heater reactively to help clear it and restore visibility.

💡 Please note that the heaters are not designed to remove significant amounts of water or snow.

Rain, snow, or condensation can often interfere with the clarity of your recordings. Keep reading to learn how to use your heaters to maintain the clearest image possible, no matter the weather.

Start your Heaters

While water on the lens doesn't damage the camera, it can be visually distracting and something that you'd probably want removing from the image. Not all cameras are equipped with heaters but they are available on the following models:

  • S-line Wide and S-line Point

  • X-line Wide and X-line Point

  • D-line

  • Portable SmartCam Mk II

In all models except the Portable SmartCam Mk II, the heaters are disabled by default and require manual activation.
