Description of what was installed at National 2 & National 3 clubs and how to get cameras back online

Updated over a week ago

This article contains the following sections:

Introduction

You have cameras installed by Fuchs for the past few years. These cameras are offline at the moment and we would like to advise you on how to bring them online.

The Fuchs team will have mounted 1 or more cameras together on a pole or a wall. They will be coloured white and blue and look similar to either of these:

Regarding connection

  • Close to the camera(s) installation point there should be a grey/white box that will contain the PoE switch and mobile router.

  • If connected directly to your own fixed internet connection there likely is no Mobile router.

This box is usually within reach without needing a lift or a long ladder.

You will need to identify which connection type to the internet is in use. These are the 3 most common connection types:

1.

Local fixed internet/fibre

3.

Venn Telecom 4G mobile router

Regular 4G Mobile Router (Connection Type 2)

This 4G router should be inside the grey/white box. Once found, you should troubleshoot using this guide

If unsuccessful, it is possible that the SIM card has run out of data. Fuchs paid for this and has likely stopped paying for the data.

Here are your options:

Option A

  1. Remove the SIM and contact the mobile vendor who provided the SIM. You can purchase your own SIM to replace this one.

  2. We recommend an unlimited 4G data plan. At a minimum, 100GB a month would be required

  3. The reason for choosing the same vendor as was inside the router is that Fuchs tested which vendor worked best at each specific location.

  4. Mobile/Data coverage can of course have changed since then and another vendor could work as well or better now.

Option B - (Preferred)

  1. If you have fixed internet at the site then you can run an ethernet cable with an internet connection to the box and plug it into the PoE switch.

  2. You would then unplug the cable from the 4G router to the PoE switch and replace it with the fixed internet cable.

  3. In addition to this you should make sure the following protocols are allowed in the firewall, you will find these protocols here

Venn Telecom 4G Mobile Router (Connection Type 3)

If you are connected via a VENN telecom router this has been disabled by VENN.

They can help get it back online but there is a monthly cost associated with this for their service and data traffic.

For more information about the associated costs, contact Venn Telecom

If you do not wish to use this option, you can:

Option A

  • You can switch to another 4G SIM provider and purchase your own SIM data plan

  • We recommend an unlimited 4G data plan. At a minimum, 100GB a month would be required
